This page is dedicated to showing the progress of the House construction. It took a long time to start (at times I though it would never start ... thanks Murphy). Oh well, patience is a virtue.......!

Here the original property.

Finally it will start.

The property seller forgot? to mention what was buried in the ground ...

As you can see, the ground is anything but settled. Lots of different layers of x#&%? which means they need to go to 6 meter depth to find solid ground.

Finally the Basement Foundation is laid. As you can see on the far side, due to the poor soil conditions, an extra support system had to be contructed first. $$$$$$

The Basement walls go up fairly quickly. Since there is no ground water to mention, a cast basement hull wasn't needed. Regardless, the basement walls will be insulated and sealed against water pressure.

The basement wall is finished, the insulation is on, and the Basement cieling is on. It came as a puzzle of pre-fab slabs, which were put together and then the remaining foundation was poured on top.

Garage Floor.

Here the view from the southern exposure. The Ground floor cieling is on and the second storey is almost done. The terrase and the balcony will be covered by the Ground and Second floor cielings. There are 2 large windows and 2 large double doors from the Living/Dining room (ground floor) and the same on the second floor from the Master Bedroom.

Some additional views of the northern exposure. Windows are kept small.

Front view showing the garage and the house. Missing is the entrance which connects the garage and house. As you can see I am waiting for the cement cieling plates to arrive so that the second floor roof can be put on.

Here a view from the back of the garage and house. Downstairs is the office and upstairs the second bedroom.

Finally after about 2-1/2 months the last cieling is on. In this case all of the electrical and air hoses are cemented into the cieling. Lost of wires, lots of photos so I know where they are in case I need to drill into the cieling later.

All of the electical cables and hoses run down a shaft to the basement.

The metal case directs (or withdraws) air from the rooms. The round cases are the downlight cases. EIB cables, power cables, CAT6 cables and spare cable hoses are installed.

Its a tight fit to get everything into the shaft. We were worried the cement would not cover everything, but all work out.

The workers pouring and spreading the pumped in cement.

Cement pump (orange arm) pumps the cement up onto the cieling. Lost of mesh for additional stability.

Here the rubber spout of the cement pump.

Just about done, and none too soon, since shortly after it started to rain.

Even though snails travel faster, the roof skeleton is finally on. Not sure what will finish first, the house or my patience. If these guys moved any slower we would have to paint them!
